‘Highland Cow’ punch needle project

Hi there! 😊😊 My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of my first ever punch needling project; a cute Highland Cow πŸ„πŸ„ Hope you like!

I must admit, it was slightly tricky at first to get the hang of punch needling, the method, as I have never done it before! My idea was that it’d be an easy introduction to embroidery, as a beginner friendly craft. Once I got familiar with the guide; how to install the embroidery hoop, thread the yarn properly, remembering to punch the needle all the way through, poking in a consistent direction etc, it was relatively straight forward getting into the rhythm of it. Any mistakes can be quickly rectified anyway by pulling back the yarn a little and redoing that particular poke. Here is the finished result:

I am pretty satisfied with my first punch needle attempt! In hindsight, it might have been better to have chosen a design less intricate. With a simpler design and larger segments for example it might have been easier to learn. Also, I believe I will obtain more therapeutic enjoyment i.e. the associative stress relieving effects with more basic a pattern, as they’d be more repetitive movements. Hopefully I will get a few bought for Christmas πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸ˜œπŸ˜œ and I might even progress onto more difficult embroidery! πŸ’•πŸ’•

For my next UnicornPostbox blog post, I have a Christmas ‘Winter Stag’ pub painting 🎨🎨 next Saturday! I am also going to make a start on my next diamond art πŸ’Ž, which will probably be my unicorn one πŸ¦„πŸ¦„

Thank you as always for checking out my blog πŸ’•πŸ’• Lots of love, Lauren xx

‘Henrietta the Highland Cow’ progression photos

My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of an amateur Highland Cow pub painting… hope you enjoy! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

We started off outlining a circle for the cow’s head on the canvas, and another oval shape within to outline its snout. The horns and neck were next, with then a dark line to distinguish the cow’s body from the background. The entire background was painted dark, with initially only navy stripes. Afterwards, white brushstrokes lightened it. As the acrylic paint was still wet underneath, the white strokes blended to make nice shades of soft blues and some almost greens. The cow was then painted entirely brown. Lighter shades of brown and bright orange started to create swaying strokes for the cow’s furry hair. The snout was then painted completely a dark pink, the snout itself then formed with various black lines. Shades of pink and gold shimmer continued to build up the cow’s beautiful hair, with a sort of emo fringe, lol πŸ˜† For the one visible eye, it was made more feminine with gorgeous lashes, and outlined with white paint to, as many of my paintings, make it ‘pop’. More shading was added and I gave her a little sort of goatie chin πŸ˜„πŸ˜„ Here is the finished result:

The very first pub painting I did was a Highland Cow. Henrietta looks different however, she has more brown tones, and the other does not have a background. I think she is rather cute to be honest πŸ₯°

I never claim to be a professional artist, I am only amateur. However I very much enjoy going to pub painting with my friend Denise πŸ’• I am very much looking forward to the next one as it is ‘paint your pal’, nothing we have ever done before, painting each other. We have decided to go all abstract, haha! πŸ˜„

Last weekend I went to London with my boyfriend Aaron, so please keep a look out for a future travel/theatre blog I am planning on writing soon. I am also on with another diamond art πŸ’Ž 🎨

Thank you as ever for reading/viewing. Many thanks,  Lauren xx

Clarisse the Colourful Highland Cow painting

Hi everybody! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of a colourful Highland cow, painted at ‘pub painting’ – an art class in town, at the pub with my friend Denise, hehe.. hope you enjoy!

This was so much fun! The teacher was Rebecca, a self taught artist. I didn’t drink, saving myself for tomorrow night hehe, but I was the closest to guessing the weight of a real Highland Cow, so I had to down a shot lol. I really enjoyed the experience, being guided along the way with acrylic paints. She’s turned out quite colourful, bright and pretty I would say πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

The next pub painting is in a month’s time, the theme next time is Halloween, wahey, I adore Halloween! For the Children’s Air Ambulance I’m on with a blue rocking chair, and also I’m doing an Elephant diamond art, so watch this space πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

Thank you as always for taking the time to read/ view my blog posts.

Much love, Lauren xx
