‘Sunset and Sunflowers’ pub painting

Hi followers ❀️ My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of an amateur ‘Sunset and Sunflowers’ 🌻 pub painting…hope you enjoy! πŸ’•πŸ’•

First of all (and definitely no way of getting this stage wrong!), we washed a watery white on the top of the canvas. We then incorporated light blues, pastal pinks, oranges and yellows, blended lightly with watery brushstrokes. This process was for the sky top part of the painting, and an emerald green then created for the meadow at the bottom. We dotted out brown circles where the big sunflowers 🌻 would be (their disc center) and started on the recognisable yellow petals, or ray florets. As the painting progressed, we added smaller sunflowers 🌻 in the distance, to an appropriate scale. To make the painting more 3D, we scooped on thick acrylic paint; yellow, orange and white petals. Also, abstract fluffy white clouds added an artistic touch to the piece. I was not satisfied with the small orange blobs to represent the disc florets, so I brushed more brown back in. The final step was light green and white lovely swaying stalks… and here is the finished piece:

This pub painting was an extra one, not located as usual in a Doncaster pub, but in a coffee shop Friday evening. Evidently, this explains why the progression photos are rather dark, yet the finished painting much lighter. I actually found this one much harder than the previous wonky donkey. I really struggled with forming realistic petals, mine are more round than defined. Nevertheless, even though not my favourite pub painting, it was still enjoyable and therapeutic πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Coming up, I’ve got two portraits ready to do, one of Keanu Reeves, one of YungBlud πŸ’• I would imagine maybe a diamond art πŸ’Ž 🎨 or two also before the next Halloween πŸŽƒ pub painting πŸ’•

Thank you as ever for your support. Lots of love, Lauren xx

‘Fred the winter fox’ amateur Christmas pub painting

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of a winter fox Christmas amateur pub painting…hope you like πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

First of all, we started with the background, bold acrylic blue πŸ’™ at the top, slowly watering down towards the bottom of the canvas. We then used our small paint brush to determine where the white snow mountains would be, and created them swooping into each other. Afterwards, we incorporated little navy blue/black trees in the mountain range and used a very clever ‘Bob Ross’ inspired technique to upwardly ‘dab’ the huge main tree, using a fan brush. Then, using out small brush, we essentially splashed speckles of white everywhere to create realistic snow ❄️ over the whole canvas. Next, we began on the fox, which at first appeared as a bit of an orange blob 🀣 or with the beak an orange duck 🀣 It was then time to add detail. Little speckles of white snow on the mountain range tree branches, and a fan brush again dabbing snow on the big tree. It was really enjoyable to be honest practicing this technique for the first time. Only left to do then was detailing the fox. Oh, and a little more touching up, such as snow shadows. Others at the class didn’t, but I sort of black outlined my fox. Rather than realistic, I am more a fan of pop art and prefer my art to ‘pop’. I think it makes him stand out more, contrasting to the other style. With his tail cuddling round him, his cute little ears and smiley face, I reckon he’s sort of adorable πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

I don’t believe I will be posting now until after Christmas. I expect in the new year to start some new diamond arts πŸ’ŽπŸŽ¨ and a pub painting in January… so until then…

I hope you all have a fabulous Christmas! πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

Thank you for all your support this year, all the best, Lauren xx

‘Doorway to Italy’ amateur pub painting

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of an amateur ‘Doorway to Italy’ pub painting..enjoy! πŸ˜„

To begin with, we horizontally outlined the bottom pale yellow, then blocked out where the green Italian door would be. We brushed more washed down brown paint for the flooring, and incorporated a little step. Then we undercoated the Italian door block emerald green. A cute little pot, and foliage added. We then gave the door white highlights and began dotting out where the flower canopy would go. We used a new technique with a palette knife, layering up abstractly the deep pink, bright pink and white flowers/ emerald green leaf vines. It was really cool to try something new! Blue shimmer stained down the Italian door to make it look trendy, and we distinguished black lines to shape it. A few little finishing touches, such as daisies in the plant pot/bush, white highlights… oh, and the faintly outlined bricks, and here is the finished result:

It was really fun doing something a little bit different i.e with the palette knife! To be honest, this was one of the hardest pub paintings to do, as there were so many stages 😊 I do really like it however and I can’t wait to do the next pub painting the end of July. It is called ‘Sunkissed river’ and the template looks absolutely beautiful 😍 Rebecca is such a talented artist 🎨 and it is fantastic learning from her, she’s so lovely and down to earth too…

So yes, keep a lookout for the next pub painting! Also, my sister has asked me to please do a portrait of the late Amy Winehouse (she loves her πŸ’“) and I also have a sunset diamond art πŸ’ŽπŸŽ¨ to start…so watch this space!

Thank you as always for viewing/reading πŸ₯° Lots of love, Lauren xx

‘Georgina the giraffe’ amateur pub painting

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of a cute giraffe πŸ¦’ Hope you enjoy! 😁

We started off with yellow acrylic paint for the long giraffe neck. Then, we lightly outlined the shape of the giraffe head and ossicones (posh technical term for horns, ha!) We filled this with colour. At this point the painting looked kind of like a yellow ogre! 🀣 Quite a few others, especially newbies, started commenting ‘Oh no, what’s happening here?’ with regard to their painting. Me and my friend Denise just said ‘don’t worry, trust the process’ 😁 We then used brown paint for the famous spots, and ears etc and a base for the eyes. Next, I added watery brown shading to certain areas, and contrastingly defined lines in black. I think the most adorable aspect of ‘Georgina’ however is her gorgeous heavily painted and flicked eyelashes 😍 What a beauty! And here is the finished amateur art piece…

To be honest, this is my favourite of all the pub paintings I’ve done! I think ‘Georgina’ is a very pretty giraffe πŸ¦’πŸ¦’ I can’t wait for the next one next month. It hasn’t been announced yet what the theme will be, so just keep a look out 😜

I think my next blog post will be a ‘Stitch’ Disney diamond art πŸ’ŽπŸŽ¨ I am doing for my lovely friend Chelsea

Thank you as ever for taking the time to read/view. Much appreciated, thank you, Lauren xx

‘Reni the robin’ amateur Christmas pub painting

Hello everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of a Christmas Robin pub painting…hope you like! πŸ˜€

We started off with blue and white acrylic paint, lightly brushing blue at the top and fading into the white at the bottom. We then incorporated white snowflakes onto the blue background. The brown twig was given 3D depth with white highlights. We started off with a kind of oval shape to silhouette the robin. We painted dark green ivy with scarlet berries, and of course Reni the robin had a bright red breast, textured feathers, beady eyes, three toed feet and a black beak 🐦 And here is the finished painting…

I am actually really pleased with this one, it’s really festive and Christmas-sy πŸŽ„ (I adore Christmas) Unfortunately there will be no more pub painting until April next year 😒 My art teacher and her partner are teaching art on a world cruise ship! How amazing is that?! What an opportunity! All the best to them, and see them in the spring πŸ’•

My next UnicornPostbox blog post will probably be of ‘Leonardo the lion’ diamond art 🎨 πŸ’Ž But I am also going to a few Christmas pantomimes so expect some theatre reviews in the not so distant future πŸ™‚

Thank you as ever for taking the time to read/view… all the best, Lauren xx

‘Oscar the black cat’ πŸˆβ€β¬›οΈ amateur pub painting

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of an amateur Halloween black cat with a witches hat! Hope you like πŸ™‚

We started off silhouetting the cat outline, and painting the entire rest of the canvas purple. Two piercing golden eyes, and shabby black fur. The hat then looked a bit like a traffic cone! Orange fluorescent paint really made the painting pop. Two black slits for pupils and grey detailed features..and hey we have a black cat with a witches hat πŸ’œπŸ’œ.. and here is the finished piece:

It was so much fun painting this Halloween themed painting! I won the fancy dress competition too with my ‘day of the dead’ outfit 😁 and won myself and my friend Denise a woo woo cocktail 🍸 The concept of Pub Painting is fantastic, being creative whilst unwinding with an alcoholic beverage, ha! Becca was brill as ever, guiding us through the entire process..

The next pub painting is in December, with a Christmas robin theme. So keep a look out for that 😜 Also, I’m about to start on a new lion diamond art 🎨

Thank you as always for taking the time to read/view..

Many thanks, Lauren xx

‘Lucian the Lion’ amateur acrylic pub painting

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of an amateur acrylic lion painting, painted at pub painting… hope you like! πŸ’•πŸ’•

We started out sketching the facial features with watered down paint. From there, we began the brown mane, a cream for the face, and layered cream onto the brown mane. We used a fantastic glow in the dark orange paint to really add character and expressiveness. White whiskers, black and gold shimmer eyes, gold shimmer in the mane and… shazam! 🦁🦁

I think this one is one of the most technical and challenging pub paintings, with quite a lot of detail to incorporate… but the end result isn’t too shabby! 🦁🦁

The next pub painting is a colourful peacock, so really looking forward to doing that one! I’m also on with a ‘tree of life’ diamond art, and perhaps some upcycling projects!

Thank you so much as ever for reading/viewing!

Catch you soon, Lauren xx

‘Seaside and starfish’ amateur pub painting

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of an amateur ‘Seaside and starfish’ pub painting…

We started out with orange sand before beginning the water. We used light and darker shades of blue to give a more realistic ocean πŸ’™ Then for great effect, we dabbed white with a sponge to give a softer wave, and created a cute little pink starfish in the right hand bottom corner. Also, we tried to give the beach more texture..

Becca is a self taught great artist who guides us through the entire process, a group in a pub setting which is a fab atmosphere..therapeutic but a lot of fun too! I look forward going every month with my friend Denise πŸ’•

Coming up next, I’m on with an amateur Africa/safari theme original artwork I’ve completed with my colour pens…so keep a look out! πŸ˜„

As always, thanks for viewing reading.. much love, Lauren xx

‘Penguins in love’ amateur acrylic painting

Hi everyone, thanks for checking out my personal blog! My latest post is progression photos of an amateur acrylic painting of two love struck penguins, created this month at pub painting..hope you enjoy! πŸ˜€

I must be honest, out of the other three pub paintings I’ve done, I found this the most challenging..when it came to silhouetting the two love birds anyway, lol.. but although I am only an amateur artist, I think they’re a little bit cute, hehe…I’m looking forward to the next session in a month’s time with my friend Denise! πŸ˜€

And here are the finished ‘Penguins in love’🐧🐧 πŸ’™πŸ’™

Thank you so much for reading/viewing, and keep an eye out for my next artistic project blog post..

‘A Nightmare Before Christmas’ Halloween pub painting progression photos

Hi fellow followers, my latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of ‘A Nightmare Before Christmas’ Halloween special at a pub painting art class. Hope you enjoy! 😊

I have not actually seen A Nightmare Before Christmas all the way through, only snippets of it I am afraid. I was informed however that the main characters are Jack and Sally (the silhouettes), and the Oogie Boogie, the boogeyman is at the bottom of the painting.

It was really fun doing a Halloween themed painting session, Rebecca the art teacher guided us through the whole process, start to finish. It is a shame it’ll be a few months until the next session.

Here is the final piece 😊 There were a few attempts by others that were amazing, but I’m pretty pleased with the outcome, I like it, my amateur go

Thank you so much for reading/ viewing. My next UnicornPostbox blog post will be progression photos of a upcycled draughts table for the Children’s Air Ambulance πŸ’•

Much love, Lauren xx
