‘Dorothy the Donkey’ pub painting

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of a pub painting wonky donkey I painted on Tuesday… hope you like! 🥰🥰

This time Becca, the teaching artist, decided to outline the shape of our donkeys on the canvas, as apparently otherwise it could have gone drastically wrong, haha 🤣 For some strange reason the background looks more a crimson red but it is actually a bright bold pink. It must have been the lighting. The eyes were first two brown simple circles until we added white dots and girlie eyelashes. The mouth, with its grey shades and black features, inclined to look like ‘Jack Skellington’ from ‘A Nightmare Before Christmas’ (I can’t unsee it now!) 🤣 🎄 We incorporated thick brown brush strokes for the mane and fringe, and fluffy ears. Brown block colour first for the head and body. Then it was very free and expressive the strokes for the fur, with our medium brush, starting off with darker tones of brown to light brown, to white. More white definition around the eyes, and more block colour to the background, and hey presto, the painting was complete 🥰🥰

Although in some ways a more challenging pub painting, it was great fun 😄 We have an extra ‘Sunflower’ pub painting this month, it’s tonight actually, so watch this space 😜

I am also to start a ‘Keanu Reeves’ and ‘YungBlud’ pencil portrait, and there will probably be another diamond art 💎 🎨 or two before the next pub painting in October for Halloween 🎃

Thanks as ever for reading/viewing. Lots of love, Lauren xx

‘Pretty peacock’ diamond art

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of a diamond art peacock 💎🎨 🦚 Hope you enjoy! 😊

It took me absolute weeks to complete this diamond art! It takes so long but is incredibly therapeutic. I am in love with the finished piece, with it’s gorgeous bright colours 🌈 and charming sophistication 😁

My next diamond art is a cute turtle 🐢 and the next pub painting is a Halloween themed Van Gogh starry night, but with pumpkins! 🎃 🎃

So keep a look out 😜😜

Thank you as ever for reading/viewing! Many thanks, Lauren xx

‘Georgina the giraffe’ amateur pub painting

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of a cute giraffe 🦒 Hope you enjoy! 😁

We started off with yellow acrylic paint for the long giraffe neck. Then, we lightly outlined the shape of the giraffe head and ossicones (posh technical term for horns, ha!) We filled this with colour. At this point the painting looked kind of like a yellow ogre! 🤣 Quite a few others, especially newbies, started commenting ‘Oh no, what’s happening here?’ with regard to their painting. Me and my friend Denise just said ‘don’t worry, trust the process’ 😁 We then used brown paint for the famous spots, and ears etc and a base for the eyes. Next, I added watery brown shading to certain areas, and contrastingly defined lines in black. I think the most adorable aspect of ‘Georgina’ however is her gorgeous heavily painted and flicked eyelashes 😍 What a beauty! And here is the finished amateur art piece…

To be honest, this is my favourite of all the pub paintings I’ve done! I think ‘Georgina’ is a very pretty giraffe 🦒🦒 I can’t wait for the next one next month. It hasn’t been announced yet what the theme will be, so just keep a look out 😜

I think my next blog post will be a ‘Stitch’ Disney diamond art 💎🎨 I am doing for my lovely friend Chelsea

Thank you as ever for taking the time to read/view. Much appreciated, thank you, Lauren xx

‘Timothy and Tina – two turtles’ amateur pub painting

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of two amateur turtles, pub painting.. hope you enjoy! 😄😄

We started off with a complete navy blue background 💙 incorporating at the top white and light blue shimmer streaks to replicate the sunlight shimmering down…The ocean floor bed was silhouetted with dark blue/black… Then dark green seaweed was added, highlighted with white… Also fluorescent glow in the dark pink and orange coral/clams/shells were introduced, really cool! 😎 After black silhouettes, hexagonal shapes were outlined on the turtle shells 🐢 the features more defined with dark green / light blue shimmer and white to illustrate where the light touches 🐢… and here is the finished painting…

I realise I’m not the best painter in the world, but I find it very therapeutic. I’m so glad our pub painting art teacher is back! (Since the start of the year, she was teaching art on a world cruise with her fiance, living the dream!) It’s very sociable the pub painting sessions, me and my friend Denise love it 😀

The next pub painting in May is a giraffe 🦒 I’m well looking forward to it because I love giraffes! 🦒 Becca is also going to offer a free oil painting introduction soon too and her fiance, photography lessons, so that’ll be fantastic! 😄💕💕

I also have a couple of diamond arts to start; one of ‘stitch’ (lilo and stitch) for my friend Chelsea and a gorgeous sunset diamond art 💎 🎨 So watch this space!

Thank you as always for reading/ viewing..much love, Lauren xx

‘Leonardo the lion’ 🦁 Diamond art

Hello everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of a lion diamond art! Hope you enjoy! 😁😁

And here is the finished piece:

I love all the different tones and colours. This one took me weeks and weeks to do, I started it before Christmas! 🤶🎄 To be fair though, I haven’t been doing it consistently, with many breaks in-between. I do find them very therapeutic though

My next two diamond arts are a gorgeous sunset and a ‘stitch’ character diamond art I am doing for my friend. She loves ‘stitch’ so much she has a recent tattoo on her arm!

I am possibly going to Hull theatre next month to see ‘Shrek – the musical’ with my best friend Robyn for my birthday 🎂🥳 So if I do so, please look out for another theatre review 😜

Also, in spring, my art teacher is coming home after teaching on a world wide cruise (and getting engaged 💍 I’m so not jealous!) so expect another pub painting come April..

Thank you so much as ever for reading/viewing. All the best, Lauren xx

‘Lucian the Lion’ amateur acrylic pub painting

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of an amateur acrylic lion painting, painted at pub painting… hope you like! 💕💕

We started out sketching the facial features with watered down paint. From there, we began the brown mane, a cream for the face, and layered cream onto the brown mane. We used a fantastic glow in the dark orange paint to really add character and expressiveness. White whiskers, black and gold shimmer eyes, gold shimmer in the mane and… shazam! 🦁🦁

I think this one is one of the most technical and challenging pub paintings, with quite a lot of detail to incorporate… but the end result isn’t too shabby! 🦁🦁

The next pub painting is a colourful peacock, so really looking forward to doing that one! I’m also on with a ‘tree of life’ diamond art, and perhaps some upcycling projects!

Thank you so much as ever for reading/viewing!

Catch you soon, Lauren xx

And here are the finished ‘Penguins in love’🐧🐧 💙💙

‘Eliana the Elephant’ diamond art progression photos

Hi everyone! My latest blog post is progression photos of an Elephant diamond art. Hope you like!

Diamond (or crystal) art is so fun and therapeutic, although it takes forever and a day to complete, hehe. I’ve been on with this one for a number of weeks. Elephants are my favourite animals, they’re so beautiful. It’s lovely to sit in my little art room at home, listening to music and completing the diamond art… And here’s the final piece:

I have a few projects to do next for the Children’s Air Ambulance; a white gloss cabinet, some decoupage tables and painting/creating a drafts table.. so I’ve plenty to keep myself occupied lol 😆

Thank you as always for taking the time to read/view my blog post!

Kind regards, Lauren xx

Casper the Cosmic Wolf diamond art – progression photos

Hi fellow bloggers / followers, my latest blog post is progression photos of a cosmic wolf diamond (crystal) art, with over 6500 jewels. I hope you like…

With there being over 6500 jewels, you can imagine it’s very time consuming to complete a diamond art; it is however greatly therapeutic. It’s lovely to put my music on and enjoy the creative process. Moreover, it is deeply satisfying once the art piece is complete. I donated it to the Children’s Air Ambulance 🙂 🙂 Here is Casper!

I’ll look now at purchasing some more diamond arts, either from the Range again or online…

My third upcycling project for the Children’s Air Ambulance is a storage book I mentioned previously, to which I’ve already decoupaged and painted. So watch this space! Likewise, I’m going to get knitting hats / scalves etc for refugees, I think that’ll be a lovely thing to do 🙂 🙂

As always, thanks so much for reading /viewing 🙂

All the best, Lauren xx

Art therapy (amateur) descriptions

Hi everyone, happy new year!

You may not know but I have actually been in a mental health hospital for the last four and a half months. I’m doing much better thank goodness; I thought it would be nice to share though some of my promarker pen amateur art therapy drawings I’ve produced whilst being a patient, and to offer a brief description of what inspired each piece. I do hope you enjoy!

I took inspiration for this cat piece from some art therapy books I already owned. The symmetry with the mushrooms, trees and butterflies and the blue/pink colour scheme is supposed to visually depict equality and togetherness.

This abstract quirky piece depicts looking at the world with eyes of love and promoting peaceful protest.

My two giraffes are boosting upwards off the yellow brick road towards Emerald City (I can relate to all the characters in the Wizard of Oz and I am considering a full leg sleeve tattoo haha).

This is art from great imagination if I may say so, haha. It’s Christmas themed and was started for the ward unique Christmas card competition. There’s a time traveling santa ‘Ho Ho’ sack, a mushroom / tea pot house, pouring green tea where a few people are zorbing. There is also a purple mother mountain, with people and unicycle trees tobogganing down her hair. Tiny snowmen and cute gnomes and everyone flying in the air like Iron man superheroes!

This is my tree of life, with quirky people who are also little tree houses living on each branch. There are blue circles up towards heaven with writing above saying ‘heaven is a place on Earth’. I hopefully envision a future where our planet becomes a utopia; where we come together in solidarity to tackle climate change and establish a better appreciation of and connectivity with nature.

This piece is inspired by The Lion King, where Mufasa encourages Simba to remember ‘who he is’ – the rightful aire to the throne (pride rock). I strongly believe that our actions in our lifetime matter, and we therefore have a responsibility to be and strive always to be, our best selves.

Here is a dark skinned goddess with elephant arms meditating on a mandala. There is a temple (and wind turbine) doorway to the right and to the left a tipee with banner swaying, saying ‘Blessed be the peacemakers).

And last, but certainly not least, is my colourful tiger. There are ‘eye of the tiger’ lyrics. This drawing seeks to symbolise tenacity. Life isn’t about how many times you get knocked down, but how fiercely you stand up and put your gloves back on, like the god/goddess YOU are!

Thank you so much for viewing / reading 🙂

All the best, Lauren xx
