‘African animals’ amateur marker pen original art

Hi everybody! My latest blog post is progression photos of an amateur ‘African animals’ amateur marker pen original art πŸ’™πŸ’™ Hope you enjoy!

I started out sketching the outlines of my African animals; giraffe, elephant, lion, rhino and buffalo.. the style of drawing is like subjects from art therapy books; pretty, brightly coloured, patterned and detailed πŸ˜€ As well as colouring the animals vibrantly with marker pens, I bordered the subjects with a black marker pen to make them stand out and ‘pop’ πŸ₯°

I would love to visit Africa and do a safari/ construction and renovation volunteering in Zambia.. I feel like Africa is really special πŸ’™ hence why I decided to do this artwork 😜

My next project is an amateur portrait drawing of a wonderful woman Joan who passed away three years ago.. she was my mum’s best friend and a god send, helping me look after mum (my mum has early onset alzheimers) 😒 I have stayed in contact with Joan’s husband Merv, that’s who the portrait is for..I will maybe draw her dog too Spencer, she adored dogs..I thought that would be a nice thing to do πŸ’•

Thank you again for taking the time to read/view.. lots of love, Lauren xx

‘Enchanted forest’ diamond art

Hi everyone! My latest UnicornPostbox blog post is progression photos of an enchanted forest diamond art πŸ’ŽπŸŽ¨ Hope you like!

It was so much fun doing this diamond art! They are so time consuming (took me a few weeks) but so therapeutic and enjoyable πŸ˜„

I have another previous diamond art I am trying to sell with this one, to go towards my fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society (I’m doing a paraglide in the Peak District)..my sister bought me another elephant diamond art too to complete next πŸ’•

Here is the finished art piece…

I am quite proud of this, and looking forward to doing the next diamond art!

Next, however, I am planning on drawing a portrait as it’s sooooo long since I’ve done so…I won’t detail who I am drawing as it is a surprise present for a friend who may read this..haha πŸ˜† But yeah, keep a look out 😜

Thank you as always for reading/viewing!

Many thanks, Lauren xx

‘Eliana the Elephant’ diamond art progression photos

Hi everyone! My latest blog post is progression photos of an Elephant diamond art. Hope you like!

Diamond (or crystal) art is so fun and therapeutic, although it takes forever and a day to complete, hehe. I’ve been on with this one for a number of weeks. Elephants are my favourite animals, they’re so beautiful. It’s lovely to sit in my little art room at home, listening to music and completing the diamond art… And here’s the final piece:

I have a few projects to do next for the Children’s Air Ambulance; a white gloss cabinet, some decoupage tables and painting/creating a drafts table.. so I’ve plenty to keep myself occupied lol πŸ˜†

Thank you as always for taking the time to read/view my blog post!

Kind regards, Lauren xx

‘Twit Twoo’ owl drawing – 30 progression photos

Hi, welcome to my personal amateur art and travel / theatre blog, UnicornPostbox. My latest blog post is 30 progression photographs of an amateur art owl drawing. Hope you enjoy!

I took inspiration for my owl drawing from my art therapy and adult colouring books. The title obviously was chosen because of the distinctive hoot noise owls make i.e. twit twoo,Β so is onomatopoeia. Two of my owls were drawn freehand, original drawings taking inspiration from the books, however I traced the outline of my middle right-hand side owl using my A3 light pad. I tried to incorporate intricacies to the design of my owls, making them as detailed as possible. I printed off star templates and again used my A3 light pad to create a starry night background. I coloured using Boldmere colouring pencils and outlined with a black ballpoint pen. Overall, I am quite pleased with the way this one has turned out. I do not think it is my best, but neither the worst in my opinion (like I keep reiterating, I am only an amateur artist, drawing for fun, as a hobby). The array of bright bold colours make it a pretty art piece methinks, hope you agree πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ … and here is the finished result:

And there we go! Hope you like my latest post! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

So sorry it’s been so long since my last blog post, I’m going to definitely try now to keep being creative and draw regularly! I very much doubt I’ll be posting any travel and / or theatre blog posts anytime soon with the current situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic 😦 😦 Hasn’t it been such an awful year! I sincerely hope all my followers are as well as can possibly be, and adjusting to the new normal. Stay safe guys! And yes, please do keep a look out for new amateur art posts coming soon. I intend to draw a portrait of my auntie and uncle next, and then I have a few ideas in the pipeline, so watch this space! πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

Thank you as always for taking the time to read / view my latest blog post! I appreciate your ongoing support, means a lot.

Take care, all the best, Lauren xx

‘Under The Sea’ drawing – 30 progression photos

Hi, welcome to my blog, UnicornPostbox. My latest blog post is 30 progression photographs of an ‘Under The Sea’ sea-life themed, A2 size, amateur art drawing. Hope you enjoy!

I used my art therapy and adult colouring books as inspiration for my ‘Under The Sea’ drawing – sketching an octopus, jellyfish, sea turtle, seahorse, crab and seashells. With this art piece, I did not trace the outlines of the images with my A3 light pad as done so previously with other drawings. I studied the subjects in the books very closely, but drew freehand, adding my own subtle changes and intricacies to make them more my own. (However, I do admit I am only an amateur artist, drawing as a hobby). I coloured using Boldmere colouring pencils, bold and differing colours, and lastly outlined with a black ballpoint pen, to make the images really ‘pop’. I am pretty happy with the result, hope you like it too! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

For my next drawing, I think I would like to do an Owl themed art piece, again gaining inspiration from my art therapy and adult colouring books; I have already decided to title it ‘Twit Twoo’, haha. Then after that, I may return to the norm of portraiture and draw as I promised them, my auntie and uncle πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ And afterwards, well we shall see πŸ˜›

Thank you very much for taking the time to read / view my latest blog post, I do value and appreciate your ongoing support, all my followers!

We are unfortunately still in very difficult and uncertain times with the regard to the coronavirus pandemic, so please do stay safe everyone!

Take care, many thanks,

Lauren xx
